WELCOME TO THE HOME PAGE!
My name is Mike McCann and I am a vintage street light enthusiast and have a personal collection of street lights. I also have a collection of vintage fluorescent light fixtures. I am a member of both the Gallery of Lights and the Lighting-Gallery.net. In July of 2012 and in August of 2014, I was able to meet up with a fellow vintage street light enthusiast named Joe Maurath Jr. Joe is very well-known in the lighting community and has a large collection of vintage street lights. Some of his pieces are the only specimens of a given fixture in captivity. When seeing his outdoor museum, as it is set up similar to one, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I had never seen so many lights in one place before and I had the opportunity to see some of street lighting's finest fixtures. It was cool to be able to see lights that I've seen on the streets since i was little opened up at eye level and to see lights that I had never had the opportunity to see in person (namely because I was born after the massive mercury vapor to high pressure sodium change-out in the early to mid 1990s).
In my opinion, every lighting enthusiast would have a blast seeing this wonderful collection of lighting fixtures in person. I am fortunate to live nearby Joe so I was able to check out his colllection in person. I had taken plenty of pictures that day that are included in this website. The purpose of this website is to allow enthusiasts who live too far away or just can't make it out to Joe's in Massashusetts to see the lights in person. It is my hope that you appreciate looking at these pictures, though the pictures do not have nearly the same affect as seeing the colelction in person. It's definetly an experience no vintage lighting enthusiast will ever forget.
